WNBA Finals 2011

The Game was good, the crowd was fun, the only issue that I have is with Concessions... during halftime, went to the burger stand near portal 212, there were no hamburger buns available. Now to me, this is unacceptable, this was a finals game, and for them to be as unprepared for the crowd, was very disappointing. The buns that they did have were frozen, not to mention the there was a double line, and instead of telling folks the issue, they let you stand there, knowing they could not serve us. PATHETIC... The manager had a nasty attitude and told me to "DO WHAT YOU DO" when I told her that I was filing a complaint. Is it too much to ask for the concessions to have their act together during at least the finals... I was hungry, missed most of the 3rd quarter, waiting in line, that new they could not serve anyone. So, the game was nice, but the concessions ruined it for me.

Atlanta Dream - FUN.FUN.FUN.

Attended the Season Opener (Atlanta Dream vs Tulsa Shock) @ Phillips Arena this past weekend and had a blast!! We had 2 tickets Sec 116 (Row S), and paid a little extra for 2 closer tickets (Row E) so our niece could attend the Skylar Diggins "Meet & Greet" after the game. So worth it!! Food & drink choices were great. Fun atmosphere at the game - Good music, free Dream T shirts thrown out to the crowd twice, etc. And the entire "Skylar Diggins Meet & Greet" event was well organized and went very smoothly - she got an autographed picture & ball - and Skylar was so nice & patient with all the kids. We were 100% pleased. Highly recommend a fun evening out to support our local WNBA team!! : )

Lack of Compassion

Upon getting off of MARTA, I was trying to find the entrance to the facility, while looking a female security guard opened a door and asked if she could assist me. I replied that I was looking for the entrance. As a 64 disabled female traveling alone, from quite a distance, I had in my hand a canister . She asked me if that was pepper spray, and being an honest person I said yes. She said she would have to report that to her supervisor, this man came to the door and with temperatures in the high 80's and my being a elderly woman, I found him to be quite rude from the onset. He said very curtly, without any sort of greeting, we cannot allow you in with that spray, you have to take it back to your car. Finally, I had a chance to get a word in, I said Sir, I do not have a car, I took MARTA, and I already have my ticket. Is there any remedy? He , once again retorted in a curt manner, I can't help you, you certainly can't leave the canister with us and you can't come in. I replied I certainly understand your policy, please direct me to a place that I can get a refund for my ticket. He points up to this massive staircase, which I knew I would not be able to climb, so he then told me to go to a ramp,. I asked a patron to assist me up the steps and went to the window to request a refund, which was denied. So I was stuck, while I applaud your security measures, I think refunds should be given under unawareness of specific regulations. When I purchased my ticket online there was no mention of what is contraband and is not allowed in the arena. So, my first experience at a WNBA game was a negative one and it WILL be my LAST time. Courtesy is number one whenever dealing with the public in my opinion, so basically I lost the cost of my ticket, the cost of my transportation, and my dignity.

Great facility, exciting game, too much unnecessary noise

The Gateway Arena is an excellent facility to watch basketball. All seats have a clear view of the court and everyone is close to the action. All the Arena staff were very polite and helpful. The game announcer's sound system was tinny sounding and cranked so loud it seemed to be overdriving his amps. This is a small facility and patrons don't need to listing someone to screaming into a microphone, especially when he has nothing really to add of significance. The sound from the lady on the floor during the breaks used a hand held microphone and she could be heard clearly but still too loud for the size of the arena. If OSHA were involved the place probably would have been shut down. My wife and I love following the Dream and this was our first visit to the Arena. Unfortunately, it may be our last.
